Black Diamond String Care and Handling Instructions
We recommend taking special care while installing the black-coated strings on your guitar. While drawing the strings through the bridge, be sure not to let them scrape along the sides of the hole as this may take the coating off. Likewise, take care when drawing the strings through the hole on the machine head.
The materials underneath the black-coating may also begin to show through when the strings begin to wear.
This helps give an indication of when to change the strings. However, wear along the area that comes in contact with the pick is absolutely normal even in brand new sets. The black poly coating protects the areas that come in contact with your hands the most: the heel of your picking hand and the hand that frets the strings. The poly coating helps protect those areas against dirt and grime that builds up over time giving the strings a longer life.
